about truelies.news

Truelies.news is a solution to seek the truthness of a news. We are overwhelmed by fake and half-true news.

How one can make his mind about all this without turning into a full-time investigator ?

Truelies.news offers a solution.

For any news out there, there are a few people who know the subject. Truelies.news let them present their opinion.

When you read news, consult truelies.news to figure out quickly if it makes sense or not.

How it works

  1. Someone post a news. The news contains a title, a synopsis and the URL.
  2. A moderator accepts the post. The news entry appears on the site.
  3. People express opinions about the truthness of the news (See guidelines.html).
    Each opinion provides:
    • The news is either true or false.
    • A title explaining very quickly why you believe the news is true or false.
    • A longer explanation.
  4. People vote on each opinions. Each voter either agrees or disagrees with the opinion.

By computing the various votes, we can come up with a truthness factor for a news (the true-o-meter).

Rules

  • To write an opinion, or vote, you need an account (free).
  • You can express only one opinion per news. Further, you cannot update the opinion.
  • You can vote once per opinion.

Alternative sources Section

For each news, you may provide pointers to a different news outlet carrying an article about the same subject. By reviewing several sources for a given story, we may end up with a better view of the truth.

You need an account to post an alternative source. Each post provides the URL and a small text explaining how this article differs (or not) from the others. You can post more than one source.

Comment/Talk Section

For each news, there is a comment/talk section. You can post comments about the news. Unlike opinions, comments may be lighter. It might help opinion writers to better understand the news.

  • Anonymous comments are accepted.
  • You can write more than one comments.
  • You can reply to someone else comment.

True-o-meter

See the document True-o-meter to understand how each news are rated visually.
