/etc/networks file In the same way that you can provide names for machines, you can pro- vide names for networks. This is useful when setting other configura- tions because it allows you to refer to a network by name instead of number. Different tools, such as netstat, will translate an IP network number to a name using this file. For one example, you will want to use network names in the NFS server configuration. This allows you to specify a set of options for a complete network in one step.
