Email to fax gateway basic configuration The Linuxconf's email to fax gateway is not a fax system. You need to install one; currently, many are available. Linuxconf, however, does not manage any. The gateway controls access to the fax system from email. You are required to define here how the gateway interfaces to the fax system. 11.. EEnnaabblliinngg tthhee ggaatteewwaayy The checkbox turns the email off and on to the fax gateway. It does this by changing the sendmail configuration. When disabled, sendmail will simply reject any fax request. 22.. SSppooooll ccoommmmaanndd When an email-fax is received, the email message is parsed and the fax is extracted. Using the various access rules, the gateway decides if the fax should be transmitted to the fax system. Once a fax is validated, a user defined command (the spool command) is called with the following arguments: +o Phone number. +o Name of the recipient if available or a single minus sign. +o Name of the sender if available or a single minus sign. +o Email address of the sender. +o A list of files holding the various attachments composing the fax. We expect to deliver pre-built scripts for the various faxing systems out there, so this field will come with a pick list. For now, you must build your own. 33.. LLoogg ffiillee You can define a log file which will receive one line for each fax transmitted. This feature is not yet completed. 44.. LLoogg ccoommmmaanndd Alternatively, you can define a command which will be executed each time a fax is sent. This feature is not yet implemented.
