Automatically generated passwords Jacques Gelinas, jack@solucorp.qc.ca Selecting a proper password is not easy. Utilities exist to solve this and Linuxconf can make use of them. Enabling a password generator The administrator has to visit the dialog "account and password policies" and set the "admin password generator". See the help for this dialog. 2. Using the dialog When you change a password, a popup is presented with few suggested password. Select one and it will become the new password. 2.1. The accept button Once you have selected the password you wish, hit accept and this will be applied. 2.2. The cancel button This exits the password change session. The old password is left in place. 2.3. The manual button This exits the "Automatically generated password" dialog. Another popup shows up and you can enter the password of your choice. 2.4. The retry button This calls the password generator again, so new passwords are proposed. Use this button until you get a password you like...
