The quotacheck utility will check all directories of a filesystem and compute the amount of disk space and the number of files/directories for every user and every group. The results are stored in the quota.user and quota.group files. These files are located in the root of each file system.
This command obviously take a while to execute. Once executed, the files quota.user and quota.group will be maintained in real time by the kernel.
