Defining Runlevels 11.. PPuurrppoossee _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f provides five predefined runlevels which are generally suitable for workstations. Each runlevel corresponds to a combination of the following features: +o Graphic mode, X-terminal, or text mode. +o Network or standalone mode. +o One runlevel number as defined in /etc/inittab. Some _L_i_n_u_x systems need more control. For example, some servers may never run the X Window System, but may support various configurations through /etc/inittab. In those cases, the five definitions provided by _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f can be reprogrammed. Each of the above three topics may be controlled separately for each of the five runlevels. You are also allowed to give each a different name. 22..
