  Virtual host ftp provides anonymous ftp access for different domains
  on a single server. To provide a higher level of security, each
  virtual host is isolated in its own directory.  Users can only view
  the relevant files own by this virtual host.  They have no access to
  any other area of the server.

  To achieve this level of isolation, a minimal runtime must be
  installed in the virtual host directory.

  The runtime is composed of various programs and libraries. Those file
  are distribution dependant. Linuxconf simply copies the environment
  for anonymous ftp. This provides the exact minimal runtime to operate
  an isolated virtual host.

  So the runtime is simply some part of the /var/ftp (on most
  distribution) into the virtual host directory.
