Default route

Introduction


Once you have filled the "basic host information" form, your Linux system knows how to send packets to other TCP/IP machines on your network. That's it. If you try to send packets to a host (another computer) on a different Ethernet network, it won't work unless you tell the system which gateway is suitable to reach the other network.
